The Three Lions Bring Back Bukayo Saka While Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden & Grealish Miss Out

Bukayo Saka in action

Bukayo Saka has recorded 12 goals in 44 games for the national team.

The national side have included the Arsenal winger for next week's fixtures versus Latvia and Wales, but there is no place for Jude Bellingham, Foden or Grealish.

Arsenal forward Saka was absent from last month's qualifier successes against Andorra and Serbia due to a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old recently returned for his club and scored in their victory against Olympiacos on Wednesday.

Saka comes in for Arsenal team-mate Madueke, who is sidelined till next month because of a knee problem.

England meet the Welsh in a warm-up match at Wembley on Thursday prior to a qualifying match in Riga on 14 October.

If England win in Latvia, they will need a maximum of two points from their final two matches against Albania and Serbia in November to qualify for next summer's tournament in North America.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Quansah replaces Newcastle's Livramento, who is sidelined for two months after sustaining a knee issue against the Gunners last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who received their maiden national team selections previously, keep their spots. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, despite the return to fitness of Adam Wharton.

Saka has featured in just one game for Tuchel since taking over as England manager, due to fitness and hamstring injuries.

The midfielder missed the previous squad as he recovered from shoulder surgery and has managed just a single start for his club since returning from injury.

The Manchester City player was omitted from the coach’s previous selection following a dip in performance and has been unsuccessful in returning, despite a strong start to the campaign with Manchester City.

The forward also is excluded in spite of a resurgence with Everton. The 30-year-old has not played for England since October 2024.

'Scrutiny on those left out rather than included'

Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad brings scrutiny on those the head coach has left out rather than the included names.

Bellingham’s omission may cause surprise but the coach believes there is no rush to recall the Madrid midfielder.

Manchester City's Foden and on-loan Everton forward Jack Grealish have both performed well at the start of the season.

Those who Tuchel utilised in England's World Cup qualifier wins versus Serbia and Andorra merit the chance to continue.

There will be regret that Arsenal's Madueke is not involved because of a fitness issue.

Anderson has looked right at home at England senior level.

The England boss is a admirer of the attacker, in particular, and also Foden.

One unexpected move, it is the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The star, naturally, will be needed in the future.
